This part contains the sequence for phaC, the third gene involved in the biosynthesis of Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). The phaC encodes for the Poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) polymerase subunit PhaC protein, which polymerizes (R)-3-hydroxybutyryl-CoA to create polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). The product consists of thousands of hydroxybutyrate molecules linked end to end.1
